Jose Elias Trujillo “Narciso”, 89, a resident of Chimayo, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 following a short illness. Jose was preceded in death by his parents, Valentine and Pulita Trujillo; very close sister, Maria Montoya; siblings, Abel Trujillo, Ramoncita Garcia, Magdalena Espinoza and Willie Trujillo; brother-in-law, Manuel Montoya and nephew Rudy Montoya. In his younger days, Jose loved riding his horse. He loved gardening with his sister Maria, cruising with his nieces and nephews and listening to the rosary and his Spanish music every morning. Mr. Trujillo is survived by his brother, Lupe Trujillo of Arizona; special nephew, Cornelio Trujillo; nephews, Tommy Montoya (Valerie), Telesfor Montoya (Janette) and Israel Montoya and companion Ruby Martinez; special niece, Betty Montoya and companion Lawrence Medina; niece, Cruzita Lopez (Jimmy) and many other relatives and friends. Public Visitation will begin on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 9:30 a.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary be recited at 10:00 a.m. and a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at the Nuestra Senora de Carmel Cemetery in Chimayo. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Junior Montoya, Davina Montoya, Vanessa Gutierrez, Janelle Lopez, LoriAnn Montoya and Claudette Grinage. Honorary pallbearers will be Mikayla Miera, Jose Montoya, David Montoya, Lawrence Medina, Betty Montoya, Macario Gutierrez and Matthew Gutierrez. The family of Jose Elias Trujillo “Narciso” has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
