Genaro F. Lujan went home to the Lord on Monday, September 2, 2019 at the age of 91.
Genaro was born on November 27, 1927 to Federico Lujan and Josephina Gonzales in Espanola, NM. Genaro was a very proud World War II Navy Veteran. He was lifelong resident of Espanola.
He was preceded in death by his father, Federico; mother, Josephina; step-father, Eliseo Abeyta; grandson, Devin Lujan; brothers-in-law, John Herrera, Robert Felix and Ruben Garcia and sister-in-law, Mary Frances Garcia.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Karen Lujan (Nordstrom), his son, Jerome Lujan and wife Amanda Lujan (Hernandez) sister, Vivian Felix (Lujan); grandson, Elias Sanchez; nephews, Thomas Garcia, John Herrera Jr., Rudy Valdez; nieces, Pam Valdez (Herrera), Evon Garcia, Cecilia Garcia, Mary Ann Garcia and Rue Ann Garcia.
Genaro was well known in the community and well respected by all who knew him. He was always willing to talk to anyone he met and never met a stranger. He was always willing to help anyone in need and would give the shirt off his back to anyone he met. He was a proud man and really enjoyed his family and friends.
A rosary will be recited on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with a Memorial Mass to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Santa Cruz. There will be a reception after the mass at the Cities of Gold Hotel. Burial to follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m. Honorary pallbearers will be; Elias Sanchez, Bonafacio Martinez, Mario Valdez, Rudy Valdez and Johnny Herrera. The family of Genaro F. Lujan has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
