Elton W. Curry, 88, a resident of Chimayo, passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at his home. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Sofia Curry; daughters, Arlene Curry and Lydia Salaz; son-in-law, Ramon Salaz; parents, James Ezra and Alice Curry; father and mother-in-law, Patricio and Trinidad Pacheco; grandparents, Sotero and Manuelita Martinez; sisters and brother, Roberta Capps (Earl), Rosetta Stewart (Jack) and Mac Curry; brothers and sisters-in-law, Horacio, Ben, Ricardo, Ruben (Ramona), Daniel Pacheco, Lito Reynolds and Lillian; aunts and uncles, Fidel (Ernestina), Esquipula (Trinidad), Romanita (Jose), Antonio (Gregoria), Auustina Reynolds (Lucas), Porfina Martinez and beloved aunt, Cayetana Martinez; uncle, Jose Leon Martinez (Ramona); nephews, David Gallegos and Danny Pacheco. Mr. Curry is survived by his daughters, Loretta Caldwell (Bob) of Española and Stephanie Martinez (Lucas) of Alcalde; grandchildren, Dylan Caldwell, Liberto Salaz, Alicia Martinez, Lucas J. Martinez and David Salaz; brothers and sisters-in-law, Linda Faye Curry, Lucy Pacheco, Rubel Pacheco (Emily), Nora Gallegos (Fred), Rosina Pacheco, several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He retired from the Military Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo with burial to follow at 11:15 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be, Liberato and David Salaz, Lucas J. and Alicia M. Martinez, Veronica Trujillo and Robert Martinez. Honorary pallbearer is Dylan Caldwell. The family of Elton W. Curry has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
