CARLA “LOUISA” BACA (TA), 48, a resident of Santa Clara Pueblo passed away of a sudden illness on Sunday, April 8, 2018. Carla was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Angela Baca; nephew, Adrian Baca; cousins, Richard Nichols, former Governor Bruce Tafoya, Greg and Tina Garcia, and Leon Lonnie Lovato. Carla loved to play sports, she loved helping people and was involved with the Early Childhood Center in Pojoaque. She worked at the Santa Clara Pueblo Library and taught the youth many things and was also involved with the Tewa Women United. She was an aspiring Native American Actress in many movie rolls and gave her life to the Lord to be a servant. Carla loved spending time with her family and she will be missed dearly. She is survived by her siblings, Janice, David, Gordon (Christine), Chuck (Anna), Gary (Kim), Leona (Jim), Darryl (Dolores), Chris (Janice), and Alvin Baca; God-children, Jareth and Anissa Baca and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a wake service to follow at 7:00 p.m. and a rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. at the Catholic Church in Santa Clara, with a burial to follow at the Santa Clara Pueblo Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to DeVargas Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
