Trevor Michael Matuszak, 19, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 24, 2017 while hiking in the White Rock Canyon. He was born August 10, 1997 in Jackson, Tennessee, later moving to Santa Fe and finally to Los Alamos in 2004. Trevor graduated from Los Alamos High School in 2015 and was about to start his junior year at New Mexico State University, studying Athletic Training. Trevor was a very caring, fun-loving happy young adult that was a joy to have around. He touched the lives of many and was a blessing to have in this world. Everyone that knew him, knew that he was an avid Detroit Red Wings fan. He loved hockey, Lacrosse, Snowboarding and was happy being outdoors. His enormous smile lit up the world. Surviving are his parents Mick and Karen Matuszak, brother Griffin Matuszak, sister Anna Rose Matuszak, Grandparents David and Judy Lee of Santa Fe, Mike and Rose Matuszak of Rio Rancho, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and wonderful friends. A rosary will be recited on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Los Alamos with a Memorial Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Guaje Pines Cemetery in Los Alamos with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers and gifts, a GoFundMe account has been set up in the Matuszak family name. The family of Trevor Michael Matuszak has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
