Ramona Vigil, 85, a resident of Ranchitos formerly of Chamita passed away peacefully on Friday, April 28, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emilio and Adela Gonzales; brothers, Luis, Jose, Manuel and Samuel Gonzales; sisters, Pablita Borrego, Beroniz Garcia, Susie Martinez; parents-in-law, Antonio Vigil and Maria de la Luz Romero; son-in-law, Freddie Tapia; grandsons, Christopher Tapia and Eric Vigil; granddaughter, Renee Vigil. Ramona loved to sing in the church choir and prayed the rosary daily. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She loved going to the senior dances with her husband and she led wedding marchas around the state for family and friends. She was a beautiful woman inside and out and always had a delicious meal for anyone who came to her home. She had a great sense of humor, loved company, liked to make everyone laugh and loved to talk on the phone. She had friends everywhere and just loved people. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Filimon Vigil; children, Richard Vigil (Margarita), Clyde Vigil (Guadalupe), Filimon Vigil Jr. (JoAnn), Evelyn Barnhart (Dean) Leonard Vigil (Angela), Darlene Parker (Kurt), Julie Marquez (Leko); sister, Dolores Martinez; sisters-in-law, Anna Gonzales, and Mary Lou Romero; 12 God-children, 27 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, MaryAnn and Pearl Vigil and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude and appreciation to Ambercare Hospice, Dr. Leslie Hayes, and nurses, Cindy Lujan and Amanda Lara for the wonderful care they gave to Ramona. Also, to anyone else who helped Ramona in anyway is greatly appreciated. Public visitation will begin on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Ohkay Owingeh, with a burial to follow at the El Guique Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers will be, Kevin Vigil, Clyde Vigil Jr., Raymond Vigil, Robert Tapia, David Vigil, Keegan Parker, Leroy Rodriguez and Antonio Roybal.
