MATILDA GURULE, 93, a lifelong resident of Espanola, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cleotilde and Fernandez Trujillo; her beloved husband, Florentino Gurule; her daughter, Margaret Gurule; sisters, Ida Abeyta, Lydia La Rouge, Bernie Lovato, Mary T. Vigil, Manuelita Arellanes, brothers, Richard and Arthur Trujillo; three dear nieces, Susan Rodriguez, Theresa Salazar and Marie Vigil. Matilda is survived by her daughter, Carmela Ryan and Jay Hundley of Santa Fe; two sons, Henry Gurule and his wife Julie of New York City, James Gurule and wife Erica of Fort Lauderdale Florida; grandsons, Daniel Ryan and wife Sally of Santa Fe, Miles Gurule of Fort Lauderdale Florida, granddaughters, Nadine Gurule of Washington State and Cleotilde Gurule of Fort Lauderdale Florida, great-grandchildren, Daniel, Andres, Mariah, Juan and Tino Ryan of Santa Fe, Natalia, Yadira James and Khloe Howard of Washington State, great-great-grandson, EJ Pineda Ryan; sister-in-laws, Priscilla Trujillo and Dulcenia Trujillo of Espanola, and many nieces and nephews. A rosary will be recited on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Española with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. The family of Matilda Gurule has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley.
