Higinia Q. (Jean) Rodriguez, 96, a resident of Santa Cruz, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 20, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose Dolores and Benita Quintana; infant daughters, Barbara Jean and Rosemary Rodriguez; husband, Joseph I. Rodriguez; brothers, Richard and Marcelino Quintana; and sister, Mela Velarde. Higinia was a kind and loving person. She loved to cook for her family, tend to her flower garden, and enjoyed sewing, which was her craft. She was a member of the Holy Cross Catholic Church, Altar, and Rosary Society. She will be dearly missed by all those who loved and knew her. Mrs. Rodriguez is survived by her son, Joseph Rodriguez and life companion, Christine Vigil both of Santa Cruz; daughter, Marie Rodriguez of Aurora, CO; grandson, Jeremy Rodriguez (Dynelle); great-grandchildren, Jocelyn and Jake Rodriguez all of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Gertrude Baros of Santa Cruz, as wells many nieces nephews, relatives and friends. Public visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada with a rosary to be recited at 11:00 and Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated immediately after at 11:30 a.m. Burial to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with the following serving as pallbearers, David, Eliseo and Paul Quintana, Ronnie Jimenez, Jeremy Rodriguez, Peter Velarde, and Bobby Baros.
