FILIMON R. LOVATO, 83, a resident of Hernandez, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 following a lengthy illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Juan De Dios Lovato and Adelina Lovato; daughter, Nancy Lovato; mother of his children, Frances Lovato. Filimon loved to tell jokes, make people laugh and loved watching tv and listening to music. He liked going to the casino and going to dances and was always willing to help people. Mr. Lovato is survived by his companion, Isabel Chavez; children, Filimon Lovato, Jr., Eddie Lovato (Lucille), Lydia Lovato and Diane Montoya (Ray); grandchildren, Maxine (Bill Smith) and Samantha Lovato (Zach Trujillo), Harvey Arellano, Brandon Garcia and Monique and John Paul Montoya; 5 great-grandchildren; close friend, Frances Lujan and several other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated on Monday, May 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the San Jose Catholic Church in Hernandez. Burial to follow at the Hernandez Catholic Cemetery. The family of Filimon R. Lovato has entrusted their loved one to DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Española Valley.
