FELIX JOE QUINTANA, 85, of Questa/Chimayo, born September 25, 1931, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday, August 2, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix & Raquel Quintana, Max & Candelaria Mascarenas and numerous siblings and other family members.
Felix is one of eleven siblings who grew up on the family ranch in El Rito and went to school in Questa. In 1952, he joined the service and received an early discharge due to illness. Felix started as an Electrical Apprentice in 1956 under Electrical Union Local 611 and later became a proud Journeyman. He started working in Los Alamos in 1963 and retired in 1993.  Felix was commonly known as “Cat” by his friends and co-workers.  Felix had a great sense of humor and was known for his pranks and making people laugh.
Felix had a great love of animals and carried that with him throughout his life. In 1967 Felix and his wife, Elsie moved to Chimayo and Felix realized his dream of having his own ranch with horses and livestock. In his younger years Felix had a passion for the outdoors and spent a lot of time camping, fishing and hunting with his family. Felix was a very hard worker and by example and success, showed his children the value and rewards of hard work. He also taught his children the skills needed to be successful in work and life.
After Felix retired, he and Elsie moved back to El Rito where they were surrounded by their relatives. They remained in El Rito until Elsie had a sudden illness and they moved in with their sons and families in the Española Valley.
He is survived by his beautiful wife of 63 years; Elsie Quintana and children, Harold Quintana, Lorenzo Quintana & Pita Salazar, Christine & Donald Hedrick, Charles & Diane Quintana. He is also survived by six siblings, eighteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, numerous other family members and many close friends.
