Clorinda Salazar

Clorinda M. Salazar, 78, a resident of Hernandez went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 following a lengthy illness. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Daniel Salazar; parents, Macedonio and Soledad Velasquez; sisters, Estafanita Gonzales, Sofia Martinez, brothers, Max Velasquez, Gomesindo Velasquez and Natividad Velasquez. Clorinda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother all her life. She loved helping people. She was a caring and compassionate person always tending to others. She was a devoted church member of El Buen Pastor and New Hope Family Worship Center. She had a great passion in caring for all her grandkids and many other children and elderly and her beloved cat, Vangie. She loved spending time with her sister and brother, and especially loved to spend time with her hita Elaine Martinez, who brought her so much joy and gave her so much love. She loved when friends and family would visit. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Clorinda is survived by her children, Diane Trujillo (Marvin), Danny Salazar (Melanie), David Salazar (Emily); Vickie Garcia (Jerry) who was like a daughter; 11 grandchildren, Cassandra Martinez (Juan), Danielle Trujillo, Bryana Salazar, Jolene Martinez (Juan), Branden Salazar, Maribel Salazar, Tiana Salazar and Devon Salazar (Desiree), Crystal (Fritz), Angel and Ashley (Carlton) Garcia; 10 great grandchildren; a very close sister and brother dear to her heart, Antonia Garcia and Abelino Velasquez (Pricilla); special God-daughters, Angela Martinez, Mary Martinez, Lupe Duarte and Lorraine Gonzales; special nieces, Abelina Martinez, Jane Sandoval, Irene Romero and Rosita Martinez, Ruth Quintana; very special nieces that were like grand-daughters, Lola Maestas (Chris), Ivy and Vida Martinez, and many other special family and friends whom she loved to stay in touch with. Public visitation will begin on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a Devotional Service to follow at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at New Hope Family Worship Church in El Llano, with a burial to follow at the Hernandez New Life Church Cemetery, with the following serving the family as pallbearers Chris Maestas, Juan Martinez, Manuel Garcia, Branden Salazar, Devon Salazar and D’sean Martinez, honorary pallbearer, Jerry Garcia.
