CLARA M. ORTEGA, 80, a resident of Chimayo, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. Clara was preceded in death by her son, Michael J. Ortega; granddaughter, Sarah Faith Sandoval; parents, Jose Ramon and Sarita C. Medina; brother, Richard Medina, sister, Susana Duran; parents-in-law, Anastacio and Gabrielita Ortega; brother-in-law, Roger Ortega. Clara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Everyone that knew her would agree that she was a loving and caring individual. She had a great sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Arturo Ortega of Chimayo; daughters, Jennie Vigil and husband Billy of Albuquerque, Peggy Sue Vargas and husband Alfonso of Chimayo and Debbie Ortega of Chimayo; grandchildren, Diane Ortega, Loretta Ortega, Rhonda Bridgen, Amanda Salas (Jose), Dominic Vigil (Vanessa) all of Albuquerque, Nathaniel and Daniel Vargas of Chimayo, Tara and Maria Sandoval both of Chimayo; 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren; beloved sister, Gloria Romero and companion Marshall of Chimayo, brother, Dan Medina and wife Mickie of Chimayo; sister-in-law, Connie Medina (Bill Caperton); brothers and sisters-in-law, special niece, Margaret Lopez of La Mesilla; God daughter, Angela Vigil of Chimayo and numerous other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo. Burial will be held at El Potrero Cemetery. Serving the family as pallbearers, Amanda Salas, Dominic Vigil, Nathaniel Vargas, Daniel Rey Vargas, Tara Sandoval, and Maria Sandoval, honorary pallbearers will be all her grandchildren.
