Benito Lloyd Mondragon, 69, resident of Ranchos de Taos passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta P. Mondragon; sons, Benito P. Mondragon, Matias R. Mondragon, and Nataniel B. Mondragon; grandfather, Rosalio Mondragon; mother, Concepcion Mondragon, dad Efren F. Sandoval; aunts and uncles Lolo Mondragon, Stella Romero, Carlos Mondragon, Amadeo Mondragon, Palemon Mondragon, Eloisa Romero, Rose Abeyta, Corine Trujillo, in-laws Marina and Joe Cordova, Roy C. Martinez; sisters-in-law, Josie Cordova and Peggy Struck (Steve), brothers-in-law, Teodoro Cordova, Paul V. Martinez. Benito L. Mondragon graduated from Taos High School in 1967.  He was well known for his athletic talents.  He worked for Kit Carson Electric in Taos and Los Alamos County as a lineman for many years, retiring in 2013.  After that he enjoyed working his land and at his Ranchito.  He took pride in his work and enjoyed spending time outdoors.  He especially loved to spend time with his family and friends.  He is survived by his daughter, Natalie A. Mondragon (Charlie), Loren Mondragon (mother Manda Medina), Cristina Martinez (mother of Matias and Nataniel), sisters Ancelma Chavez, Leisa Hollis (Gary), Billy, Richard, Anthony, Veronica and Mark Sandoval of Tooele UT; grandchildren, Nicole Tafoya (Eric), Angel Mondragon (Mauro), Chantelle Deitrich, Patience Feliz Mondragon, great-grandchildren Anahi Avilez, Mauricio Adame, Anthony and Samiya Tafoya, Tio Juan Mondragon (Tommie), special primo, Max Romero; sisters-in-law Martha Romero(Trankie), Cecilia Martinez, brothers-in-law, Antonio Cordova and Larry Santistevan; mother-in-law Betty Martinez, beloved Lydia Gallegos and many other dear family members and friends. A rosary will be recited on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis de Assisi Ranchos de Taos Catholic Church, with a Memorial mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be held at Llano Quemado old Cemetery. The family of Benito Lloyd Mondragon has entrusted the care of their loved one to the DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory of the Espanola Valley. 505-747-7477-
