Aurora Gurule

AURORA GURULE, 97, a resident of Rio Lucio, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, August 2, 2016. Aurora was preceded in death by her husband, Levi Gurule; son, Robert Gurule; parents, Eliseo and Antonita Borrego; brothers, Luis, Ernesto, Eliseo Jr., Alfonso, Frank, Paul and Horacio Borrego; grandsons, Steve and Louie Martinez, Marvin Gurule. She was born in Dawson NM, She was an administrative assistant for the courts in Taos County, and then she moved to California to work in the Ship yards as a Rosie the Riveter. Aurora enjoyed baking, crocheting, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. Aurora was survived by her daughter, Lena Martinez (Maguin); grandchildren, Beverly Martinez (Ramos), David and Barbara Martinez, Amanda and Michael Martinez, Amy and Javier Trujillo and Roberta Gurule; great-grandchildren, Gary Martinez (Shanai), Brandyn Valdez (Morgan), Bryana Valdez (Justin), Gabriella, David Jr., Aaron, Louie, Joshua, Michael Jr., and Mikayla Martinez, Brittany, Sarah Trujillo, Michael, Gianna and Robert Gurule; close nieces, Christine and Orlando Lujan, and Angie Gurule; close nephew, Seth Gurule and many other relatives and friends. Public visitation will begin on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory with a wake to follow at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church in Peñasco. Burial will follow at the Santa Fe National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. serving the family as pallbearers are David, Gary, Michael, David Jr. and Aaron Martinez and Brandyn Valdez. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Damian Montoya and Mikey Martinez.
