Adonelia Martinez

Adonelia D. Martinez, 93, a resident of Chimayo, was born September 29, 1923, and passed away May 9, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anastacio Martinez; parents, Juan and Pablita Ortega Duran; sons, Gilbert, Ricky, Frankie, and Anastacio Jr. Martinez; sisters, Magdalena Martinez, Versales Montoya, and Rosa Vigil; brother, Aniseto Duran; grandchildren, Charlie, and Jimmy Jr. Ortiz, Mario Hernandez and Marie Lopez. Adonelia weaved for the Ortega’s and Trujillo’s weaving Shop in Chimayo. She loved to eat at Applebee’s in Santa Fe, and go shopping with her daughters.  She loved going on picnics with her family and on trips to Utah to visit her sister and family. She is survived by her daughters, Susie Martinez, Rose Martinez (Henry), and Berlinda Martinez (Pete); sons, Benny Martinez (Mary), Joe Martinez (Vicky), and her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Public visitation will begin on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Chimayo, with a burial to follow at Nuestra Senora de Dolores Cemetery in Chimayo. Serving the family as pallbearers will be Pete Sanchez, Neil Sandoval, Neil Gallegos, Patrick Martinez, Jared Olivas and Lolo. Honorary pallbearers are Nancy Martinez, Laura Lujan, Deidre Sandoval, LeeAña Lujan, Mariah Lopez, Annabelle Almager, and Jackie Martinez. The family of Adonelia D.
